I still don’t understand what’s happening in this panel

Rorschach why are you sitting like that

why are there things wrapped around your wrists

WHY???

Y’know I’d thought those were unexplained bandages and that he was wounded somehow when I first saw the panel (and then was surprised as hell when there wasn’t any context given in the actual book), but now I think I’ve got it figured.

It’s a coloring mistake.  The trailing things are actually the ties for his trench, and should have been colored brown.  And for some reason the artist gave Walter Kovacs—PROFESSIONAL DRESSMAKER AND TAILOR—a white dress shirt with sleeves long enough for a chimp.

No idea why he’s sitting in such an awkward manner, though.

ohhh the coloring mistake actually makes sense

if he was sitting like that you would definitely see the ties

what a mess

I think the artist originally intended to draw him crouching in the corner with his hands dangling between his knees but drew him too low in the panel to frame him properly/have him meet up with an already-penciled background and had to fudge it when they got to the legs.

I just tried sitting like this and even as someone who sits corss-legged/tailor style almost exclusively holy hell is that awkward. Also it made me realize that his arms/hands aren’t draped, but rather held awkwardly in front of him, kangaroo style.

Like this:

And really, there’s only one context my brain can think of where that’s the most natural way to sit:
