WILL DRAW FOR INSTALL HELP
Attn: Off fandom, I would very much like to join your ranks but for the life of me I cannot get the game to load. I’ve read through the game forum and tried every troubleshooting technique offered but so far none of them seem to help. Hell, I can’t even find anyone who seems to be having the same problem that I am, which is quite disheartening. And while it may have been hashed out elsewhere, I’m hesitant to dig through the off tags because I’m trying to avoid spoilers.
IF YOU CAN HELP ME MAKE THIS GAME WORK, I WILL DRAW YOU A THING. Obviously if it’s an Off-related thing it’ll have to wait until I can finish the game (because spoilers), but it doesn’t have to be Off related at all.
Here’s my problem: Whenever I try and run the game, it starts up (the dragon picture flashes by) but never seems to finish loading. After the dragon my screen just completely blacks out. Pressing F4 won’t reduce it from full screen to a window. Pressing escape doesn’t work, and even ctrl+alt+delete won’t bring up a task management option. Instead it brings up this really zoomed in version of my task bar, and from their my only options are to force a restart or put the laptop to sleep. After waking it up it shoes my desktop at a regular resolution, only garbled, but from there at least I can open a task manager and close the game from there (at this point I get a “Not Responding” message.)
I’m running Windows 7, have RPG Maker 2003 installed and working, and the RTP installed. Followed all the directions in the Read Me, installed the fonts, etc. Have tried both the 2.0 translation and the “Simonbobs Off Translation”, haven’t been able to find the 1.3 translation to try.
Seriously, first person (or persons, if it’s a combo of fixes) gets a pic request.
